Nossa Senhora da Nazaré Sanctuary
Nossa Senhora da Nazaré Sanctuary was built in the 14th century, by King D. Fernando (1357-1383) order.
This is the oldest marian temple in Portugal and its connected to both Legend of Nazaré and D. Fuas Roupinho.
At the sanctuary location, and due to its increasing importance started to grow Sítio da Nazaré, the historical centre of Nazaré.
The sanctuary suffered a few works over the centuries and its classified has Public Interest Building since 1978.
Due to its antiquity, to its legacy and inheritance this is a heritage of mandatory visit.
All this heritage should be complemented with the awesome views over Nazaré Beach provided by the Soberco Viewpoint or over the North Beach provided by São Miguel Arcanjo Fort.
